For years, the idea of what makes a “perfect body” has made many young women feel insecure about their own appearance. This has led them to question why they are unable to achieve a runway model’s body. As a result, many young girls go to unhealthy extents to attain their ideal body type.

However, recent body positivity has made a rise in the social media app, Tiktok. A large number of famous influencers have been using their platform to encourage people to love their bodies.

The biggest body positive influencer on Tiktok, Sienna Mae Gomez, rose to prominence by dancing in bikinis and not caring about her thigh gap or her stomach rolls. Her videos portray a realistic body type which contrasts the impractical standards the media has set. This encouraged millions of girls to feel comfortable in their own skin, and others to reevaluate what they classify as a “healthy” body type.

Another well-known advocate on Tiktok is Charli D’Amelio, who has spoken out about loving all body types. She has posted several Tiktok videos featuring a series of images enforcing how everyone is beautiful. Additionally, she has spoken out against body shamers on the internet through her other social media accounts.

Lastly, xobrooklynne, or Brooklynne, brilliantly fights internet trolls by dancing to rude comments about her body. As she films these videos, she chooses to wear clothes that expose her stomach. These types of videos spread the message that no one should restrict themselves from wearing what they want because of society’s wrong mindset.

Tiktokers like these influencers promote body positivity to all ages, making the app a more safe and loving environment. Social media can be brutal, with hate comments and more, forcing many young children and teens to second guess themselves as a person and go to extreme measures to try and “fit into” society’s standards. Luckily, these influencers use their platform for good and ultimately spread awareness and love.
